Harby is in the far north-east of the county in the Vale of Belvoir, north of the town of Melton Mowbray, south west of the town of Grantham. Although the village is in Leicestershire, the county town of Leicester is away, the closest city is Nottingham away. The village is situated on the south side of the Grantham Canal. Apart from Harby in Leicestershire there is a Harby, Nottinghamshire, Hårby in Denmark and a (Harby ) near Kalmar in Sweden. The seat of the Duke of Rutland, Belvoir Castle is north east from Harby. Harby has a monthly publication for local news and events (Harby Journal ). The (Belvoir Challenge ) is a 16 or event for walkers and runners around the Vale of Belvoir. It was set up in 1990 to raise money for (Harby Primary School ). Harby has a Post Office, village shop and cafe, the "Tea Junction" all located at the village garage on Nether Street. ==Governance== Harby is in the Rutland and Melton constituency. The current Member of Parliament is Alan Duncan. Harby shares its civil parish council with Long Clawson, Leicestershire, and Hose, Leicestershire to form (Clawson, Hose & Harby Parish Council ) across three villages.
